About Aswan High Dam
Built with Soviet assistance. Controls Nile flooding and generates 2.1 GW. Created Lake Nasser, one of the largest artificial lakes at 5,250 km2. Saved Egypt from devastating floods and droughts. Displaced over 100,000 Nubians. The Philae temples were relocated to save them from flooding.
